Geomancy is an important component to any Feng Shui consultation.

Geomancy

Geomancy is gaining a reputation around the world as an approach that helps make a difference to our place of living - on all levels.

What is Geomancy?

The practice of Geomancy is about bringing people and land together to create a harmonious place to live. Geomancy bridges the gap between earth and ourselves...connecting person to place. Geomancy has been practiced by most traditional Indigenous, Celtic and Germanics cultures to find the most beneficial sites for building that were to be a part of the social and spiritual work of the community.

As a practicing Feng Shui Consultant, it is becoming more and more evident that it doesn't matter how much space is cleared inside homes, and remedies and enhancements added, it is now extremely important to examine the different types of stresses of the land for the benefits of the mind, body, and spirit - especially if there are sleeping or health issues.

Examining the stresses of the land is known as Geomancy - geo = Earth, and mancy = divination of. The practice of Geomancy is about bringing people and land together to create a harmonious place to live.  Geomancy bridges the gap between earth and ourselves...connecting person to place. The earth is alive and when we understand this we can begin to see that any imbalance in the landscape could create an impact on our health and wellbeing.  Therefore geomancy provides us with the opportunity to examine and implement remedies where necessary to facilitate the harmonizing of the land that may be affected by different types of geopathic stresses. A site or home will have three influences; Yin, Yang, and Balance points which determine what is actually happening.

Different types of geomantic phenomenon or stresses:

  • Geological Faults are responsible for the stresses on our earth’s environment.  The radiation released from rock fissures and fractures from underneath the earth’s surface produces a strain on the atmosphere of the immediate environment and the people who are living above them.

  • Geomagnetic Lines channel energy through the landscape and in our homes and depending on whether these lines are positive or negative, there could be issues regarding fighting off infection or disease.  When they are balanced, they offer us support in maintaining good health and well being.

  • Ley Lines are channels of energy that are created by human thought especially when we are very connected to a place or person.

  • Water Courses are streams and water that travel through fractures and fissures beneath the Earth’s surface, projecting information and energy into our homes and into the environment in which we live.
  • Electromagnetic Fields are energy emissions from household appliances, transformers, meter boxes, power lines, mobile phones, television stations and microwave dishes, that have an affect on our mind and bodies.

  • The Hartman and Currie Grids are grids of energy that relate to the geopathic and physical stress of any given environment.  Named after the discoverers, these grids are active and disruptive in over-stressed areas.  The Hartman Grid is thought to be closely related to the human consciousness, while the Currie Grid is thought to be related to the consciousness of the planet as a whole.

  • Nexus Points are concentrations of naturally occurring electrical forces that pulse and flux throughout the atmosphere.  These nodal points on the Earths surface, which are figure eight in shape, harness the characteristics of the well known Alpha, Beta, Theta and Delta frequencies that have an affect on our electrical impulses in our brain and influences how we feel and react in a negative or positive way.

  • Negative Psychic Impressions are cases where the environment or house has remembered and stored emotionally charged events that have occurred in that particular place ie. emotional residue! This can manifest as Ghosts (energies) roaming the earth.

  • Mobile Personal Lines are a form of place memory and are a manifestation of individualized human consciousness. This means that there could be past fragment aspects from previous occupants that lived in your home.

Signs that you could have geopathic stress on your property include the presence of the following:

  • Ivy
  • Beehives, wasp and ant’s nests
  • Bare patches in the grass
  • Cracks in the land
  • Fungi, mould or moss
  • Twisted bark on a tree

Scientific research is starting to realise that there could be a relation between illness and geological faults (the earth’s radiation). According to Integrated Functional Medicine, (www.ifmed.com.au – The Effects on Health, 2006) we are poorly informed with regards to the effects that the earth's radiation (geopathic stress) can have on humans, animals and plants. Rays which are emitted from the earth, are invisible to us. However they do exist and are stronger than X-rays, penetrating anything and everything. For example, they have the ability to pass through the steel and concrete in our homes.

The Benefits of Geomancy

Geomancy could bring harmony and serenity to a particular site for the person and place. Establishing this creates respect for our land, the earth, ourselves and balances where we live.

Benefits include:

  • Improvement of overall wellbeing
  • Ants no longer enter the home
  • Less arguments/disputes within the home
  • Brings opportunities into your life
  • Helps you to appreciate what you have in your life and your relationship with the earth
  • Introduces you to the important connection between place and person

Now that we have become more aware of how the land environment could have an impact on our wellbeing, there is now a choice to remedy these issues especially if there is a reoccurring illness, and sleepless nights.   Feng Shui and Geomancy complement each other and could help us to create a balanced lifestyle that we are all looking for in all aspects of life.
